Laura Flynn
Tax Manager
Laura brings more than a decade of multifaceted tax advisory experience to her role as Tax Manager. She began her career at EKS&H—then the largest tax practice in the Denver Metro area—where she spent seven years specializing in private equity portfolio companies in the energy sector, building a strong technical foundation and a deep appreciation for high performance, growth driven cultures.
Seeking to broaden her experience, Laura joined the boutique firm Ian D. Gardenswartz & Associates, P.C., later acquired by CBIZ. Over another seven-year tenure as Tax Manager and Partner, she advised clients across manufacturing, distribution, restaurants, and professional services. Her work centered on helping clients navigate complex tax and financial challenges while building strong, lasting relationships.
At Watson Coon Ryan CPA, Laura has found an ideal environment that blends experienced leadership, developing talent, and a collaborative, holistic approach to client advisory. Her specialty areas include partnership taxation, real estate development, and incentive equity arrangements. She especially enjoys researching and resolving technical issues, but is equally passionate about helping business owners grow their companies and achieve meaningful long-term financial goals.
Laura most enjoys learning about each client’s business objectives so she can support both day to day operations and long range planning. Within the framework of partnership taxation, she adds value by advising on agreements that genuinely reflect owners’ intentions, modeling prospective transactions for strategic decision making, and collaborating closely with management to enable timely, transparent communication—essential for building strong, successful partnerships.
A Certified Public Accountant, Laura holds a B.S. in Mathematics from Colorado State University, where she also completed the teacher licensure program and spent four years as a math teacher. She later earned her Master of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in accounting, also from Colorado State.
Outside the office, Laura enjoys board games, yoga, time with her Kindle, arts and crafts, and any chance to be near the beach. She teaches Sunday School and volunteers regularly with her church, reflecting her commitment to service and community involvement.
