Kelly Watson, CPA

Kelly Watson is an Assurance Partner at Watson Coon Ryan, LLC, where she brings a career-long commitment to public accounting and a deep passion for supporting mission-driven organizations. She began her career at a large regional firm, gaining extensive experience in public company audits and Sarbanes–Oxley compliance. Over time, her work expanded into tax, small business consulting, and peer review services, ultimately leading her to focus on nonprofit and governmental assurance, including single audits and Form 990 reporting.

Kelly earned her BSBA from the Leeds School of Business at the University of Colorado Boulder. Her dedication to professional excellence is reflected in her accomplishments as a graduate of the AICPA Leadership Academy and through her Advanced AICPA Certificates in defined contribution plan audits and single audits. She is an active member of the AICPA and the Colorado Society of CPAs, and she has been honored with the CSCPA’s “CPAs Who Care” award and the “Women to Watch” award for her service and leadership within the profession.

Throughout her career, Kelly has served on multiple nonprofit boards and remains energized by the missions, people, and impact of the organizations she supports. She loves learning how different teams operate, understanding the difference they make in their communities, and being surrounded by passionate leaders across industries. Kelly is equally committed to her colleagues. She values the strength of her team and enjoys finding ways to collaborate, mentor, and continually elevate the firm’s work.

For Kelly, the most rewarding part of her role is being able to help; whether that’s guiding clients through complex reporting requirements, strengthening their operational confidence, or supporting her team in delivering excellent service. Her approach reflects a blend of technical expertise, genuine curiosity, and a deep appreciation for the organizations and people she serves.
